Cemetery Tour

Kelowna Pioneer Cemetery Tour:

Members of the K.D.G.S. who are interested in learning about the Pioneer Cemetery (Kelowna Memorial Park), are invited to join me on a tour of the cemetery. It will start at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 29th, 2011, and should last about an hour and a half.

We'll assemble at the gazebo, in the Pioneer Cemetery, and will then have a look around the cemetery, stopping at various grave sites along the way.

But where is the Pioneer Cemetery? If you are coming up Spall Road (off of Harvey Avenue), you drive to the set of lights at the top of the hill. Before entering Glenmore Drive (straight ahead), turn right at these lights, and follow the road until you come to the Pioneer Cemetery; the Kelowna Golf & Country Club is to your left. Watch for the gazebo on the left hand side of the road.

If you are coming up Bernard Avenue (main street), go past the Apple Bowl (right hand side), over the railway bridge (train tracks below it), and to the set of lights at the intersection of Bernard Avenue, Spall Road, and Glenmore Drive. Go straight through the lights (when it is green, of course), up into the cemetery, and follow it until you reach the Pioneer Cemetery.

There is plenty of parking in the Pioneer Cemetery.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no active ghosts in the Pioneer Cemetery. If you are wanting a spectre, however, I will try to contact some of my Clement, Whelan and Freeman ancestors, to see if they can put in a special "appearance."
