September 24: How I Spent My Summer Vacation
(Genealogically Speaking), moderated by KDGS member Don Garrie: Share your
summer adventures at family reunions or through your summer travels to track
down those elusive ancestors! This is a round table forum where we get to share
our discoveries and adventures or just listen to others’ tell their
stories.
October 22: Putting Your Ancestors into Historical
Context, with KDGS member Janet Fidler: Find out how to look at history
through your ancestors’ eyes; how did world and local events shape the direction
of your ancestors’ lives; how can looking at history reveal clues about your
ancestors. Janet will suggest some tools for developing timelines and making
discoveries about your ancestors through historical sources.
November 19: Family History Detective – Session One:
Names, with KDGS member Claire Smith-Burns: The first in our “Family
History Detective” series where we discuss the building-blocks for constructing
a successful family history; this session will explore Names – spellings, name
changes, search strategies, etc.; this series is aimed at those new to family
history but is also useful to more experienced researchers, especially since one
of our aims is to share our knowledge gained through doing genealogical
research.
All the forums are held at the downtown library in the large meeting room and start at 7pm.
Everyone welcome and it is free!
